Lyrics / commentary
It is my belief that the Bush Administration is causing great damage to the
economy, human rights, environment, and safety of the United States, North
America, and the whole world. Many American citizens who feel this way have been called "unpatriotic," especially after the US invaded Iraq. Nothing could be further from the truth.
When citizens of a democracy believe that their present government is detrimental to
their life and country, it is patriotic to affect change by dissent and
democratic process. In contrast, blind support of a destructive government
is UNpatriotic.
I believe that music is a way of spreading a message, and this song can help. Download the mp3 and pass it on. Let's get this song out!
PATRIOT
You say that I'm weak
'cause I won't back your war
You say I'm on the enemy's side
'cause I'm not on yours
You say you fight for freedom
And the right to choose
But then you try to silence my voice, well
You got another thing comin' to you, 'cause,
I am a patriot, I am a patriot
I am a patriot, I am a patriot
It don't make us safe
When you're on the attack
If you put your fist in someone's face
He'll knife you in the back
All the good books say it ain't right
To steal and kill
You won't take their oil and our money
And drag us down the road to hell, no
I am a patriot, I am a patriot
I am a patriot, I am a patriot
I wanna live in a country that's safe
In a land that's clean and free
For every colour and culture
Every person, every belief
Your greed, your fear and your lies
Ain't gonna push me around
I'm gonna use the power I have
I'm gonna vote you right outta that house, 'cause
I am a patriot, I am a patriot
I am a patriot, I am a patriot
I am a patriot, I am a patriot
I am a patriot, I... am a patriot

I have many good friends in the United States. They love their country and wish to protect it against the policies of the present US adminstration. Their disagreement with their government is a democratic, patriotic act. This song is their voice, and I dedicate it to them—the true Patriots.
